Supporting quality-led residential delivery within a major regeneration scheme

Guildford Block D forms part of the wider regeneration of Guildford Station, a masterplan transforming the existing station quarter into a mixed-use destination comprising new homes, retail, office space, public realm and transport improvements. The wider development is led by Solum Regeneration (Guildford) LLP, with JJ Rhatigan & Company delivering the construction works.

Positioned within Guildford town centre, the wider scheme supports the borough’s long-term regeneration ambitions by introducing new residential accommodation within a highly connected location while contributing to the enhancement of the surrounding urban environment.

Shaped through terraces and connected living

Made up of four interconnected blocks, Guildford Block D delivers 179 build to rent apartments comprising studio, one, two and three-bedroom homes. The development is shaped by a stepped architectural design, with roofs and terraces incorporated at every level from level +04 upwards, creating a layered building form that introduces private and shared outdoor amenity space throughout the scheme.

The stepped approach helps reduce the overall visual massing of the development while creating a strong relationship between architecture and outdoor living. Designed to sit at a similar height to the adjacent Block E, the development contributes to a cohesive residential setting within the wider masterplan while establishing its own distinct character.

Residents benefit from a range of integrated amenities including concierge facilities, gym space, cinema and co-working areas, supporting contemporary town centre living within a highly accessible location. Integrated parking provision includes 39 car parking spaces within the development.

Supporting long-term regeneration ambitions

Block D contributes to Guildford’s wider ambitions to create a more vibrant and sustainable town centre environment that supports residents, businesses and visitors alike. The surrounding regeneration introduces a new commercial quarter, a newly refurbished bus station and a new medical centre designed to support the needs of the growing community.

The wider transformation also includes the pedestrianisation of North Street, projected to improve local air quality while enhancing the overall town centre experience. Located within walking distance of Surrey University and with close access to the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the development combines town centre connectivity with access to established green spaces and regional amenities.
