We are pleased to share an update on the Baltic Street student accommodation development in Leith, Edinburgh, where piling works are now nearing completion.
As the appointed Carbon Managers, Employer’s Agent, Quantity Surveyors and Life Cycle Costing consultant on this significant project, we have had the privilege to support a scheme that carefully balances heritage conservation with modern urban development.
Circle’s role behind the scenes
Baltic Street is a large-scale, mixed-use student accommodation development in Leith, Edinburgh, involving the sensitive conversion of a Grade A Listed building alongside new-build elements that respect the site’s historic Category B-Listed industrial heritage. As Carbon Managers, Employer’s Agent, Quantity Surveyors, and Life Cycle Costing consultant, we have overseen extensive surveys, procurement, and risk management across remediation, archaeological, demolition, and main construction contracts, ensuring the careful integration of heritage conservation with modern, sustainable design.
What’s next?
As the piling works near completion, we continue to work collaboratively with all project partners to ensure the successful delivery of this landmark development. We are grateful to our client, HUB, the architect MLA, structural and civil engineer Civic, and MEP consultant Atelier 10 for their ongoing cooperation and expertise.
Baltic Street exemplifies how thoughtful development can safeguard historic environments while meeting contemporary needs. We look forward to seeing this project progress through the next stages and ultimately contribute positively to the Leith community.
