We are pleased to announce the successful topping out of 43 Brook Green, a significant milestone in the transformation of this historic West London building.
It was a great moment for the whole team to come together, celebrate progress, and hold the ceremonial trowel — a tradition that marks this important stage in the construction journey.
Balancing preservation and innovation
Formerly the EMI Headquarters, 43 Brook Green is a rare example of 1930s architecture, distinguished by its imposing façade and inherent character. The redevelopment celebrates the original building’s legacy while preparing it for a sustainable and modern future.
Working alongside General Projects and Bennetts, Circle has been proud to support the project as Quantity Surveyor, overseeing the cost planning, tendering, and procurement of the refurbishment, re-purpose, and extension works.
A key sustainability achievement of the scheme is the retention of the original façades and the exposure of the existing concrete structure internally – a decision that has led to an estimated 9,500 tonnes of embodied carbon savings. This careful balance between preservation and innovation reflects a growing commitment across the industry to low-carbon construction practices.
What’s next?
The redevelopment will see a two-storey extension added to the roof, delivering bright, contemporary office space with far-reaching views across London and access to a landscaped wraparound terrace. A three-storey rear extension will provide further amenity, including green space and landscaped green roofs to every floor – designed to promote biodiversity and wellbeing.
The result will be a 120,000 sq ft Grade A office building, combining architectural heritage with high-specification, modern workspaces.
