We are pleased to share that on 26 March Water Lane officially topped out, marking a major milestone in the delivery of this 375 home Build to Rent development in Leeds city centre.
The ceremony brought together the full project team to celebrate the completion of the building’s superstructure, standing several storeys above the South Bank with impressive views across Leeds. Topping out ceremonies are a longstanding construction tradition and recognise the collective effort of the client, design team and contractor in reaching this important stage safely and successfully.
Delivered by main contractor HG Construction, Water Lane is being developed by McLaren Living in partnership with Heim, with architecture by Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher. The wider consultant team includes Meinhardt as structural and civil engineer and Hoare Lea as MEP consultant. Circle is supporting the project through our roles as Project Manager, Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveyor, providing integrated oversight across programme, procurement, cost management and contract administration. The topping out celebrates the successful collaboration that has brought the project to this stage of delivery.
Transforming a vacant car park site into a vibrant new neighbourhood
Water Lane will transform a former car park into a vibrant residential neighbourhood centred around high quality public realm, landscaping and resident amenity. The scheme will provide 375 new homes supported by a strong mix of shared spaces including resident lounges, co working areas, a gym, private dining and events spaces, alongside roof gardens and landscaped communal areas designed to enhance wellbeing and community.
With the superstructure now complete, the next phase of works will focus on façade installation and making the building weathertight, alongside the progression of internal fit out works including mechanical and electrical installations, amenity spaces and apartment finishes.
As the project progresses into this next phase, we look forward to continuing our work with the team to bring forward a high quality residential development that will make a positive contribution to the Leeds South Bank area.
